Hamazkayin's scholarships are awarded to graduate students of Armenian descent in the fields of Literature, Journalism, or Film/Theater who have demonstrated a strong academic and professional background as well as a solid record of activism in the community.

The 2008 scholarships were presented at Hamazkayin's 80th Anniversary Celebration Banquet, which took place in Montebello on October 26, 2008.

The 2008 recipients of Hamazkayin's $5,000 scholarships are:

Myrna Douzjian in Literature
Raffi Barsoumian in Theater

Hamazkayin will be releasing the application for its 2009 scholarships shortly.
